This week the Slovak crown movements were in accordance with currencies of the neighboring countries. The SKK started the Monday session at the level that was about 15 hallers weaker than its Friday closing value and moved at 41.860 SKK/EUR. Worries about the possible impacts of the railway strike weakened the crown towards the euro to 42.090 SKK/EUR. However, after the strike was suspended the crown kept almost all week in the band 41.700-41.900 SKK/EUR. Only at the close of the week it got to 41.960/42.010 SKK/EUR following major EUR purchases by London banks.

Dealers expect busier trading on the FOREX market next week. They assume that 42.0 SKK/EUR will be interesting for crown purchases and development will reverse at this level. The market awaits appreciation of the crown.

Against the US dollar, the Slovak crown was quoted at 38.86/38.90 SKK/USD on Friday. The exchange rate of the euro and the US dollar moved to 1.0781 USD/EUR. The cross rate of the Slovak and Czech crowns was 1.320/1.322 SKK/CZK.
