A 1075-person opinion poll conducted by FOCUS agency in January suggests that almost 70 percent of Slovakia’s citizens would attend a referendum on Slovakia’s entry into the European Union. Of them, 80 percent would vote for Slovakia’s membership. On the other hand, 13.8 percent would vote against entry and 6.2 percent are still undecided.
The latest FOCUS poll shows a moderate increase in those who want to cast the ballot in the referendum from December. Of the about 70 percent, 40.3 percent would certainly vote, other 29.1 percent would rather take part in the referendum than ignore it and 21.2 percent of respondents declared they would not participate. Of this, 9.5 percent said they would certainly not go the polls and 11.7 percent declared they would rather not participate. Moreover, 9.5 percent have not decided yet on their participation.
